Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American journalist. Her current job is with ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She joined ESPN in 2016. She is the child of the journalist on television Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins was bilingual since the age of nine years old a useful skill that helped her secure her first job working as an assistant to the producer for Univision in Miami and gave her the chance to be a part of the production team for National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. She was hired as reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she relocated to Rio Grande Valley, Texas to work as a news reporter for The Spanish station KNVO TV 48 Univision and Fox2 News. Covering stories related to drug trafficking and immigration on both sides the Texas-Mexico border, she was a news reporter for the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5pm, then an anchor for the news channel in English for 9 pm, after which she became a news anchor until 10pm, before returning back to the Spanish channel. Also, she was a substitute for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasstation, which is where she takes on more responsibility. She also did segments on Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason and the NBA Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was host of on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was advertised as anchor of the sports segment on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports program). Antonietta Collin's parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The city of Mexico City she was conceived on November 22nd 1985. She is younger than her sister. Her family relocated from Mexico to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. In 1992, the couple divorced then shortly thereafter in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo, a naval engineer who passed away in 2006 due to kidney cancer. While on a vacation Antonietta spent the time at her sister's house in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sibling had recently gotten a new job. Antonietta still a senior at high school and was clear about the career she wanted. So while assessing if Mount Union would be a good fit for her Antonietta went to visit the school. She loved the campus. It also gave her the program she was interested in. After graduation, she attended the university as a major in media studies. Her relationship lasted for a while with her professor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor for WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a member. Mark Bergmann inspired her to believe in herself and his passion in journalism was a huge influence on her. She determined to meet his expectations and never failed him.
